Slurry Stream Profiling

Why profile your slurry stream?

The liquid phase carries the mass or dense phase through the process as the mineral is extracted. Throughout the journey, various components such as tanks, pumps, filters, heat-exchangers, valves and instruments are all dealing with the flow stream. The slurry stream is a multi-phase flow with variable velocity profiles due to the influence of the mass phase and for convenience is often dealt with as a single phase during the design of a mineral processing plant.

Slurry stream profiling is about reducing the influence of the mass at critical points. The result of the variability between the solids and the liquids in the flow can create process noise, wear to components, fluctuations in thickener or classifier performance and of course the mass flow through tanks.

How can FloCEP help?

FloCEP can boost productivity in your mineral processing operations by working to reduce this process noise in your slurry stream with our FLOdistributor™, FLOprep™, FLOdose™ and MAXbend™ technologies. Our engineers can conduct a full assessment or provide flow modelling to recommend the right product and or changes for your plant.

FLOprep™

The workhorse of the retrofit systems – creates equal solids distribution inside the bulk flow ahead of that stream being split.

FLOdistributor™

Delivers equal solids load reporting to various plant components such as cyclones and various process feed header systems.

FLOdose™

Allows the most intimate contact between carried solids in a slurry and an injected chemical such as floculant, flotation collector, biocides etc.

MAXBEND™

The first-ever ‘cause-focused’ remedy to bend wear.  This is not a ‘barrier’ or a change in metallurgy approach.  MAXBEND reduces the collisions per unit area of the mineral grains on the bend internal wall, allowing previously unheard-of bend life improvements.
